Everything fucked can be unfucked

As I've started to do loads more running consults, I started thinking about my own journey and went searching for some old photos of me running. On the left we have the 2018 Sydney Marathon, to the right is Parkrun on Saturday. There is a lot of differences between these two photos. On the left I'm doing a lot of things very wrong; ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ My head is forwards and my eyes are looking down ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ My shoulders are bunched ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ My arms are just coming along for a ride ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ I'm bent at the hips ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ I'm overstraining badly and coming down hard on the heel with a straight knee. It's no surprise that I spent a lot of time pushing through injuries. Years ago I started a journey on educating myself as much as possible with my running, this has involved reading loads of books, studies, watching videos from experts and purchasing coaching from those further ahead of me. The photo on the right looks a lot better than the one on the left. It still is far from perfect but I'm a big advocate of the term 'Progress not perfection'. Running is one of those things that we all just seem to think we can do. It wasn't until I got fed up and started researching it that I realised just how much there is to running technique and why it matters. Chances are pretty high you've never been critical of your own running, you've most likely never filmed yourself running. I recommend that you do exactly that. A lot of people tell me they just aren't a runner. I like to challenge that by telling them they just aren't a runner yet. Everything fucked can be unfucked, it just takes a little work.
